COUNSELING SERVICES FOR INDIVIDUALS

EASE provides confidential counseling, phone consultations and community referrals.

EASE counselors specialize in:

  • family troubles
  • emotional distress
  • drug/alcohol problems
  • job anxieties and stress
  • grief, loss and transitions

EASE is primarily an assessment and brief counseling service and is best defined as a pre-treatment service. The emphasis is on early identification of problems affecting work performance, consultation with managers, labor representatives, employees and proactive intervention. EASE is not a substitute for a district’s health-care plan. It is, however, a beneficial and effective extension of the provider plan.

MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION FOR DISTRICTS

Employee Assistance Services for Education, EASE,  is a specialized Employee Assistance Program (EAP) focused on employees in the educational sector. It is a worksite-based program designed to assist in the identification and resolution of work and non-work-related concerns that may impact the employee's functioning including, but not limited to, occupational, health, marital, family, financial, substance use, legal, emotional, or other personal/professional concerns which may adversely affect employee job performance.

The Employee Assistance Service for Education (EASE) program was established in 1982 by a Joint Powers Agreement between the Los Angeles County Office of Education and member districts and was designed to offer a low-cost option to districts for employee supportive services. EASE is a confidential and voluntary service offering professional counseling, consultation and education to district employees.

EASE provides the following:

  • Mental health counseling and referrals for concerns, such as occupational, health, parenting, relationship difficulties, anger management, substance use, emotional, and balancing work and family life.
  • Consultation with district supervisors and managers regarding workplace issues, such as interpersonal conflicts, managing a distressed employee, and coping with crisis.
  • Support for districts on managing constant change, crisis response services, prevention of workplace violence, and the impact of substance use on the job.
  • Value-added services such as psycho-educational workshops for employees on stress management, anger management, communication, self-care, grief and loss, and crisis counseling and debriefings.
  • To best serve our demographic, EASE offers in person and telehealth options and a diverse clinical provider base.

As districts strive to reduce health care costs and best support their employees to prevent worker's compensation and improve retention, the EASE program provides a low-cost shared model between a consortium of districts and is offered at $14.00 per employee

for the 2024-25 fiscal year.

This fee includes counseling for eligible family members in addition to after-hours emergency calls, worksite consultation, and critical incident response.

For information about joining the consortium, call 1-800-882-1341.
