Over 150 LA County Students Named Semifinalists in 69th Annual National Merit Scholarship Program
Wed Oct 25 11:02:00 PDT 2023
Over 25 L.A. County school districts celebrate National Merit Scholarship semifinalists and commended students.
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) has named about 16,000 high school students from the graduating class of 2024 — less than 1 percent of U.S. seniors — as semifinalists in the prestigious 69th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Over 150 students from L.A. County are among the 16,000 semifinalists' group and will attend the final awards ceremony in the spring of 2024. In addition to the semifinalists, about 34,000 students were recognized as Commended Students. Semifinalists and Commended Students constitute the top 50,000 students nationwide who participated in the 2022 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). We applaud the tremendous efforts of these students and their families for their immense dedication to their education, as well as the teachers who supported and guided them through their academic journey.
