STEM Science serves all LA County LEA’s (Districts and Charters) to improve academic achievement in science and scientific literacy for students; provide classroom instructional practices and focused leadership strategies for teachers and administrators; and identify and provide tools to support and sustain improvement towards science education.
Anthony Quan
Anthony Quan is the Coordinator III of the STEM Science Unit. He serves as the official advisor to the LA County Science Fair Organization, Regional Co-Director of the LA County Science Olympiad, and Founder of the Engaging Girls in STEM Program. He also serves as a member of the CA NGSS Collaborative Leadership Team. He is a former university professor of Teacher Education Programs and a former Teacher Programs manager with the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
Christie Pearce
Christie Pearce is the Coordinator II of the STEM Science Unit. Formerly with the Orange County Dept. of Education, Christie is well versed with the Science Olympiad organization. She has served on several statewide projects including the NGSS Rollouts. She is Past President of the Southern California Association of Science Specialists and currently supports Elementary Science Olympiad competitions in Los Angeles. She is also a former Informal Science specialists.
