Los Angeles County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Debra Duardo joined fellow educational leaders at the AASA (American Association of School Administrators) Conference earlier this month, bringing valuable insights into the evolving landscape of technology and learning.
The conference brought together school superintendents from across the nation to develop a forward-thinking vision for education. Dr. Duardo participated in a panel discussion titled "Future-Forward Education: Redesigning Learning with AI and Technology".
The panel explored transformative strategies for preparing students for an increasingly digital world. Key discussion points included balancing technological access with educational objectives, building future-ready skills for students, implementing robust cybersecurity measures and leveraging secure, localized generative AI tools to support educators.
Dr. Duardo shared that LACOE has already established a comprehensive framework for AI in education which includes the creation of an AI task force, development of comprehensive AI guidelines, the creation of an AI Governance council, AI Literacy training for staff and instruction focused AI Symposiums.
Dr. Duardo’s participation in this national conference underscores LACOE’s commitment to innovative, forward-thinking education. By proactively addressing technological advancements, LACOE is preparing our students and staff for the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow.
