Six Los Angeles County Schools Named 2025 Purple Star Awardees

Military families in Los Angeles County now have six newly recognized "Purple Star" schools committed to supporting their unique needs and challenges.
State Superintendent Tony Thurmond announced 83 schools across California achieved the prestigious 2025 Purple Star Schools designation, bringing the total to 179 recipients since the program began in 2023. Six Los Angeles County schools earned recognition for their exceptional commitment to supporting military-connected students and their families.
The recognized schools include:
Acton-Agua Dulce Unified, California Pacific Charter
Acton-Agua Dulce Unified, Compass Charter Schools
Antelope Valley Union High, Academies of the Antelope Valley
Antelope Valley Union High, Paraclete High School
Keppel Union Elementary, Sage Oak Charter School- Keppel
Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified, Miraleste Intermediate
The Purple Star School Designation Program honors schools that provide tailored support and resources to military-connected students, who often face unique challenges due to frequent relocations and changing environments. The program helps mitigate mobility challenges by establishing standards for military-friendly schools.

"These schools play a crucial role in supporting our military-connected students, ensuring that they maintain their academic, college and career aspirations while their parents serve our country."
