New Pilot Program to Enhance Expanded Learning in Los Angeles County Announced

This innovative pilot program is designed to enhance Expanded Learning opportunities for high school students across Los Angeles County.

The Greater Los Angeles Education Foundation (GLAEF), in partnership with the Los Angeles County Office of Education’s Expanded Learning Technical Assistance Unit (ELTAU) and Education First, is excited to announce the launch of the Greater LA Enrichment & Expanded Learning Community of Practice (GLAEF E&E CoP)! This innovative pilot program is designed to enhance Expanded Learning opportunities for high school students across Los Angeles County.

The GLAEF E&E CoP will provide:

  • $60,000 in direct grants to selected high school sites to expand and deepen their out-of-school time programming.
  • A Community of Practice (CoP) where school site teams can collaborate and focus on innovative solutions to address program expansions, student recruitment and staffing supports.
  • One-on-one coaching to support program design, implementation and long-term sustainability.
  • A concluding evaluation and case study to document success stories, challenges and best practices, informing future Expanded Learning initiatives across the region.

Below are the five outstanding high school sites who are currently partners: 

·         Alliance Marc & Eva Stern Math and Science School in partnership with After-School All-Stars Los Angeles

·         Glendale High School

·         LA Academy of  Arts & Enterprise in partnership with Woodcraft Rangers

·         Montebello High School

·         Vaughn Next Learning Center

Each representing a diverse mix of schools across LA County, committed to creating meaningful learning opportunities for their students. Together, we will work to enhance student engagement, build community partnerships and strengthen out-of-school programming for secondary youth.
