More than 80 employees provided 200 pairs of new athletic shoes to students in the Downey Unified School District.

LACOE's annual Shoe Drive continues to put smiles on students' faces this holiday season, thanks to the remarkable generosity of employees across all departments. In partnership with Shoes That Fit, more than 80 LACOE staff members came together to provide 200 Downey Unified School District students with new athletic shoes.

The heartwarming initiative, which began modestly in 2013 with 47 students receiving shoes, has grown significantly over the years. While the program was temporarily paused during the COVID-19 pandemic, its revival last year through Business Advisory Services (BAS) has proven that LACOE's spirit of giving remains stronger than ever.

This year's overwhelming response demonstrates the continuing impact of this meaningful program. The new athletic shoes, delivered to Sussman Middle School on December 17, will help ensure students can participate fully in school activities with comfort and confidence. The Shoe Drive exemplifies LACOE's ongoing commitment to supporting student well-being beyond the classroom and making a tangible difference in the lives of local families during the holiday season.
