12 Los Angeles County Schools Recognized as 2023 National Blue Ribbon Schools

Twelve schools in Los Angeles County have been chosen as 2023 National Blue Ribbon Schools.

The recognition, awarded by the U.S. Department of Education, highlights exemplary schools that demonstrate overall academic excellence or significant progress in closing achievement gaps. 

“This achievement is a testament to the commitment and passion of our educators, students and community,” said Dr. Debra Duardo, Los Angeles County Superintendent of Schools. “When we come together with a shared vision, great things can be accomplished. This recognition reflects that collaborative spirit, bringing immense pride to each awarded school and its community.” 

Los Angeles County Blue Ribbon Schools for 2023  

1. Charles J. Carver Elementary School, ABC Unified School District, Cerritos 

2. Downtown Magnets High School, Los Angeles Unified School District, Los Angeles 

3. Glen A. Wilson High School, Hacienda La Puente Unified School District, Hacienda Heights 

4. Grace Miller Elementary School, Bonita Unified School District, La Verne 

5. Horace Mann Elementary School, Glendale Unified School District, Glendale 

6. Leffingwell Elementary School, East Whittier City Elementary School District, Whittier 

7. Los Molinos Elementary School, Hacienda La Puente Unified School District, Hacienda Heights 

8. Martha Baldwin Elementary School, Alhambra Unified School District, Alhambra 

9. Mesa Robles School, Hacienda La Puente Unified School District, Hacienda Heights 

10. Ocean View Elementary School, East Whittier City Elementary School District, Whittier 

11. San Jose Charter Academy, West Covina Unified School District, West Covina 

12. Wedgeworth Elementary School, Hacienda La Puente Unified School District, Hacienda Heights 

National Blue Ribbon Schools serve as models of effective and innovative school practices for state and district educators and other schools throughout the nation. The award affirms the hard work of educators, families, and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging and engaging content. 

A total of 353 schools across the country received the honor this year. The U.S. Department of Education will formally recognize the 313 public and 40 private schools at an awards ceremony on November 16 -17, 2023 in Washington, DC.
