Hundreds of students, coaches and community members from across Los Angeles County will gather at El Rancho High School in Pico Rivera on January 28 for the loudest, most intense event of the Los Angeles County Academic Decathlon. 

The public and media are invited to the “Super Quiz,” to watch and cheer on decathletes as they take turns in teams to solve tough questions in front of a live audience. This is the first of ten events that takes place in a span of three weeks. 

The Los Angeles County Academic Decathlon is a rigorous and fun scholastic team competition that challenges students to demonstrate knowledge and skill in academic subjects, essay writing, interviewing and speechmaking. 

What: Academic Decathlon “Super Quiz” 

When: Saturday, January 28, 2023, 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. 

Where: El Rancho High School, 6501 Passons Blvd, Pico Rivera, CA 90660 

Teams vie for medals, and the chance to compete at the state and national levels. Winners will be recognized in a special banquet ceremony next month.  

This is the first year that the Los Angeles Academic Decathlon is being held in-person since the start of the pandemic. The event was held virtually for the past two years.
